My Experience With Wine

I'm Ethan, and I'm from the Cayman Islands. Hello! I grew up in a family that quite liked drinking wine. Although I usually drank wine at family dinners. I started drinking on my own a little earlier than most people here in the US because the legal drinking age in my own country is 18. My father and, as well as, more recently, my girlfriend's family were the main sources of my wine experiences. I've had the opportunity to try some French wines that I was previously unfamiliar with, thanks to my girlfriend's family, including things like pouilly fuisse.

Although I don't consider myself to be a professional sommelier or even close to one, I would say that I have a good understanding of wine and can recognize its various distinguishing characteristics. I enjoy drinking the majority of wines (that are good quality, of course). When asked what my favorite wine is, I find it difficult to answer because I believe that each wine has its own place and occasion for enjoyment. However, if I had to pick just one wine to drink on its own, it would be Inniskillin Vidal Ice wine. Inniskillin Vidal is a sweet dessert wine that is harvested in subfreezing temperatures. As a result, there is very little juice produced, but what there is is very concentrated.

The opportunity to learn more in this class excites me quite a lot. I'm mostly looking forward to trying different wines in this class that I might not have otherwise because I wouldn't have to write wine blogs about them. I believe that this will encourage me to learn more about wine and the various pairings you can make to make it even more enjoyable.

Again I hate selfies, but it's mandatory so here you go :)
